the art of letter-writing

“We usually say more in a letter than we do in conversation, the reason being that, in a letter, we feel that we are shielded from the indifference or enthusiasm which our remarks may meet with or arouse. We commit our thoughts, as it were, to the winds. Whereas, in conversation, we are constantly watching or noting the effect of what we are saying, and , when the relations are intimate, we shrink from being taken too seriously on one hand, and on the other, not seriously enough.”
“Letters of the Century – America 1900-1999″

nostalgia and wanderlust

Melancholy.

Nostalgia is often triggered by something reminding the individual of an event or item from their past. The resulting emotion can vary from happiness to sorrow. The term of "feeling nostalgic" is more commonly used to describe pleasurable emotions associated with and/or a longing to go back to a particular period of time.

German Romanticism coined an opposite toHeimweh, Fernweh "far-sickness", "longing to be far away", like wanderlust expressing the Romantic desire to travel and explore.

This incident happened quite near my office. Around the time I'm commuting to work.
Exactly the place where I buy some food frequently.
I'm just so glad that I wasn't there but I'm also devastated to hear that many were injured and a few lost their lives.

sunburned ukelele

Since I just got back from a unplanned weekend out-of-town trip with my college barkada, I decided to share two beach-loving songs that I'm currently playing 24/7. And though I don't really like dancing, (well, except the lovely waltz) these songs make me dance and dream at the same time.

will post some pictures when I have the chance.

--------------------------
Present suffering may pass
Lord Your mercy will last
As You open my eyes to the work of Your hand
And my heart will find praise
I'll delight in Your way
----------------------------------
Bind up these broken bones
Mercy bend and breathe me back to life
But not before You show me how to die
---------------------------

Beautiful Jesus
How may I bless Your heart?
Knees to the earth
I bow down to everything You are
Beautiful Jesus
You are my only worth
So I will embrace You always
As I walk this earth

--------------------------

Captivate us, Lord Jesus
Set our eyes on You
Devastate us with Your presence
Falling down
And rushing river, draw us nearer
Holy fountain consume us with You
Captivate us Lord Jesus, with You

“I suddenly woke up and real songs started coming out of me. Songs that I didn’t plan on writing. But that just became a reflection of how I feel and the mood that I was in and these awakenings that I was having."

If a man knows not what harbor he seeks, any wind is the right wind. -Seneca.

The poet only asks to get his head into the heavens.
It is the logician who seeks to get the heavens into his head.
And it is his head that splits. - G.K. Chesterton
